Four in 10 young women sexually harassed in public spaces, survey finds | Life and style | guardian.co.uk

“Sexual harassment is so ingrained that we barely notice it, but when you start talking to women almost every one has a horrible story to tell: it’s time for society to stand up and put a stop to it.”

This is a problem in Trinidad and Tobago as well, and indeed the entire Caribbean.  However, it is ingrained as part of our culture and so very few people realize that it is a problem.

  1. I agree that women are harassed by men on the streets……….then I asked some ladies a question and I even asked myself, “What is harassment?” I did a little mini-survey and it seems to me some women actually have different views on what “harass” is. Imagine a man can offer a compliment to a woman and she may think she is being harassed. (Terrible example to use but i will continue with this) It’s like a dog seeing someone and jumping to lick them or get a rub on it’s head, the human may say this damn dog only harassing me. Poor Lassie is just so happy that he is expressing himself as he knows best, alas, it’s is being interpreted as harassment.

Ladies, what do we do from here on?
