Marionettes sing Noel (November 29, 2015)

Noel, the BP Marionettes Chorale’s latest celebration of Christmas, promises to be one of its best to date. The program promises to deliver something for lovers of all types of Christmas music, from classical to parang.

In addition to celebrating the birth of Christ, as well as the joy and love of the season itself, the concert has a related theme. It reminds us that even though there is suffering and violence across the world, we should love and cherish each other, and most of all, the children.
Choir director, Greta Taylor, said the song selection was made with children especially in mind. “It is disgusting what children are being subjected to. Some lose their lives senselessly, through car accidents and the like, some are collateral damage, some, like the immigrant children, suffer because of war. We used to respect and honour the aged and the children, but it is no longer so. People are selfish and the caring is gone, and it really bothers me when it affects children. So I keep bringing back pieces which remind people that children should be loved, in this case, “I Am A Child” and “I Am But A Small Voice,” so there are two pieces with children appealing to the world. The message is clear: take care of the children, protect the children, love the children, cherish them. They didn’t ask to be born.”
In a time when our country and the world are in dire need of peace, healing and hope, the Marionettes seek to usher in a spirit of love, community, joy and thanksgiving with music to put people in the holiday mood, and remind us all of the reason for the season.
