Christian author and musician Leah Lewis will be holding a workshop for persons in Christian ministry. The workshop, titled The Principles of Worship in the Spirit, will take place on April 13 at the Lions Cultural Centre, Fitz Blackman Drive, Woodbrook, Port-of-Spain.
Lewis said the workshop is a training session for those operating in Christian ministry, particularly in the area of worship. “It is also a session for those who may be seeking out greater intimacy with God and desiring to go deeper in their walk with Him. I will be teaching persons how to be led by the Holy Spirit in worship. I believe that this kind of workshop, although rare in occurrence, is absolutely necessary for believers in Jesus Christ, particularly in these times where the Church and the way that we worship God, are often compromised by what may seem to be carnal or familiar, rather than godly and Spirit-led.”
She said that believers in Christ worldwide believe “He will return for His Church, for those who love Him and worship Him genuinely, to live with Him in eternity. Worship plays a tremendous part in our preparation for His return and like any other living thing, the act of worship is evolving. It is changing from being earthly and familiar, where we only sing songs that we know in musical styles that we are familiar with, to being heavenly and a deeply spiritual experience, one where new songs flow freely, even in spiritual languages, and melodies and harmonies come from within us like we have never heard before. I believe the Holy Spirit wants to draw the Body of Christ into a place of deeper intimacy, one that calls for worship in the spirit, no longer evoking an emotional response in the flesh, but instead allowing us to transcend the physical realm to become united with Him through our praise and thanksgiving. I will be helping persons to achieve this with one on one teaching and live demonstration.”
Lewis said this is the fourth edition of the School of Worship, One Day Workshop, which she began hosting in 2017. “This is something that God placed upon my heart to do two years ago and it is something so real, I’m glad I obeyed Him to do it. It’s an honour for me to contribute to His works and this is something that I believe in dearly. Previous workshops have had wonderful results and I’ve received positive feedback from persons who attended, in terms of their walk with God and worship ministry within their own church assemblies.”
She said in terms of Christian practices, she has been appointed to what is known as the Five-Fold office, and is a Bible-believing follower of Jesus Christ. “I am the author of the book entitled, The Lifestyle of Worship, available globally via Amazon and sold locally in bookstores, and I am the voice behind the novelty worship music album, “YHVH – Let All Nations Hear the Voice of the Lord God of Israel – I AM”. While you can’t really go to an institution to be accredited in something like this I just love Jesus, and I’m happy to do His will.”
Lewis said the workshop will accommodate 20 people, including individuals and teams, with instrumentalists being welcome. The cost of the workshop is $200, which includes a training manual of the course, a certificate of participation and refreshments. “Participants will learn the difference between carnal and spiritual worship; the connection between the human body, soul and spirit; the connection between the heart and the mind; how to be led by the Holy Spirit in worship; how to flow in the Spirit and sing or play new songs spontaneously; and, how to hear God’s voice in worship and sing prophetically.”
