Venezuelan singer and songwriter Irvys “Vozmusic” Dordi will be launching her first album No Puedo Evitarlo on July 20 at the Skyy View Lounge in San Fernando. She will also be filming the video for the title song of the album during the launch.
Dordi learned to play the Venezuelan cuatro as a child and grew up with her father and grandfather singing and making music around her. She performs a variety of Latin music genres such as bolero, salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton, bachata, and parang, as well as world music, reggae, pop and fusion. “In the near future I will be working on a couple of reggae and jazz compositions. I draw inspiration for the songs I write from my life experiences, emotions, heartache, falling in love, happy feelings and so on.”
She has lived in T&T for 20 years, and is originally from Maracay, Aragua, in Venezuela. Dordi has written and recorded music throughout Latin America. “My first recorded song and music video as #VOZMUSIC was Historia de un Amor (A Love’s Story). I recorded music in Peru last year June as well as a music video of the song No Te Vas (You Do Not Go), which is included in the album. I recorded another music video in Bogota, Colombia which I released on July 12. I am also planning to do some music in Mexico in November to celebrate my birthday.”
The album is named after Dordi’s original composition No Puedo Evitarlo (I Can’t Avoid It) and features bachata, salsa, reggaeton-calypso fusion and bolero. The launch event will feature Dordi singing songs from the album as well as others, both original and covers. “The night is about #vozmusic and I will be backed by my #vozmusic team, so I will be performing with a full live band. DJ Cristian Larez will also be there. Audience members can expect a night of storytelling about my journey, music, dancing and a fun time.”
CDs of the album will be available for purchase at the launch event, and online purchasing will be available shortly thereafter. Interested persons can email orders to info@inten.co. Dordi’s music can be found on YouTube at Voz Music and on all other social media by searching #vozmusic.
Tickets for the launch cost $100 and can be purchased at D’Vibez Lounge, San Fernando, or call 362-0557. The show takes place Skyy View Lounge, Riverside Drive, San Fernando. Doors open at 9 pm.
