Lustre of talent at Kaiso Blues (July 25, 2019)

Sopranos Adafih Padmore, Tiana Chandler and Cherysh La Touche will present Lustre 2: Adieu on July 28 at the Kaiso Blues Cafe, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain. This is the second performance by the singers as a group.

Chandler said “our inaugural performance as a trio took place in December 2017 after having sung together for several years with the UWI Arts Chorale and creating a greater bond during the Chorale’s 2017 tour to Belize and Mexico. The last show was such a success, we got so much positive feedback and we enjoyed working together so much that we decided we really needed to do it again. We decided to collaborate because we truly enjoy singing and working together, but we will also be doing solos and duets during the concert as well.”

All three singers have been trained at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. La Touche and Padmore have degrees in Musical Arts, while Chandler has a degree in Management Studies specialising in Marketing and a Certificate in Technical Theatre Production.  They all sing with the UWI Arts Chorale, and have full-time jobs in the Performing Arts. La Touche is a member of the National Theatre Arts Company of T&T, Padmore teaches music at the Bishop Anstey High School in Port-of-Spain, and Chandler is a Stage Technician at The Southern Academy for the Performing Arts.

Chandler said the trio is “very excited to finally present our second full performance at the Kaiso Blues cafe and are proud to once again perform with the live band that accompanied us in 2017: Alexander Evans on guitar, Mark Anthony Peter on keyboard, Sekou McGregor on bass and Denzil Johnson on drums. Audiences can expect a variety of songs from jazz, contemporary and musical theatre genres from the three diverse sopranos.”

The show begins at 6 pm. Tickets cost $120 and can be purchased from the performers.
